 The journey into motherhood can be overwhelming, intense, transformational, euphoric, exciting, terrifying and all of the above plus some…

This was definitely the case for me. There was also this sense of loss, like I had lost who I once was and I needed to grieve this loss of self. There is also the birth of the new self on the other side of birthing your baby and this can be equally terrifying and exciting. This new self needs to be met, acknowledged, nurtured, loved and supported just like your new born baby..

But when the baby’s needs are so high and constant, the mumma can often get forgotten about. There’s so much pressure and expectation around what it means to be a good mum let alone a GREAT mum and it can feel impossible to meet these expectations, especially with that never ending to-do list you’ve got going..

Soon you find yourself crying often, sometimes without even knowing why, and you cant seem to get anything done or show up fully for your little one. It all gets too much and you find yourself numbing out and shutting down because it’s all just too much to feel. You don’t even want to get out of bed but there’s so much to do, so many responsibilities and obligations.. and so you continue to suppress how you feel and trudge on…

Emotions and stress levels are running high, there’s a continuous release of stress hormones, keeping you in an over activated state, on high alert, running around until you crash and burn. Feeling unsupported, alone and like a failure..

Feeling like you have nowhere to turn, no one to talk to, no one to support you through your journey into this new life. Maybe you have a family member or a good friend who will listen, which is so amazing but it doesn’t stop the overwhelming in flow of emotion, pressure and the heaviness of unrealistic expectations.

Mumma, you are not alone!


 When you are emotionally triggered, it is often due to unresolved pain, trauma or suppressed emotions that are being held inside. This likely began in your childhood, the mind may forget but the body remembers everything!

When you experience trauma and/or stress in your life that overwhelms your nervous system, there is a tendency to develop coping and defense mechanisms causing the energy to get stuck in the tissues of your physicality and your subconscious mind, creating dis-ease and disharmony in your life.

Many of us experience trauma and stress in infancy and early childhood which affects how we develop and mature. It affects how we make decisions and how we respond to our external environment and it affects how we show up as mothers later in life.


What is Trauma?

Trauma results when the nervous system is overwhelmed by an experience and you do not have the tools or capacity to process the experience, emotions or energies.

Your fight/flight/freeze system is activated and you go into autopilot survival mode until the threat has passed and you’re able to come to, often missing parts of what happened, completely in shock, heightened emotions, or completely numb.

Your protectors (coping and defense mechanisms) kick in and you can experience overwhelming emotional triggers, anxiety, shut down and avoidance strategies.

You go into autopilot and when you come back to presence you often shame, blame and wrong yourself, beating yourself up for what you said or how you acted.

To release the built-up energy, complete these cycles and fully integrate them into your nervous system so you can move forwards, they need to be acknowledged, felt in a safe and supportive space, expressed, and integrated.

I always knew I would be a mumma one day and I couldn’t wait! I thought it would be super natural and I would be the most amazing mumma, I would eat super healthy, practice yoga and meditation everyday and have all the wisdom ready to go for my little one. Well… it didn’t quite pan out the way I had envisioned or expected.

Motherhood has not felt natural at all for me. My pregnancy was unexpected and came with a lot of fear, anxiety and not feeling good enough.

My pregnancy was an intense and powerful healing experience where I experienced tremendous growth, expansion, realignment and reconnection to myself and my intuition.

I felt empowered, ready and so excited for little Theo to enter the world. I had envisioned the perfect birth and it did not go to plan, at all… I left the hospital feeling like a failure as a mother, incredibly guilty and unsupported, my dream birth ripped away from me, my heart hurt deeply.

Postpartum was harder than I could have ever imagined. There were days where I didn’t think I would be able to keep going but being a mumma, I tapped into strength that I never knew I had, this was empowering as tough as the days were, my belief in myself got stronger and stronger.

I had also started a business in my pregnancy and so I was navigating the world as a new mumma and new business owner, this was a lot of pressure but I loved both Theo & my business so very much, I knew I had to find a way to make it work.

Over the course of my life I have learned many tools and received incredible insights that have supported me through the toughest of times, everything I have been through helped me to build the inner strength I needed for being a mumma and business owner.

Breathwork helped me through my pregnancy, birth and beyond, supporting me in clearing the birth trauma, the guilt, and understanding the underlying core wounds that were beneath these feelings.

  • Notice instantly when feelings of overwhelm, anxiety or stress are creeping in. Catch it before it takes over, tune in, receive the message and from a grounded, centered place you can choose how you respond and discharge the energy and return to a state of balance, ease and inner peace.

  • Honor when your body is saying “You need a break, it’s time to take care of you”, release the feeling of guilt and know that taking care of you will allow you to take even better care of your loved ones.

  • How to recharge and increase your energy levels, have more energy than ever before to do more of what you love. Balance your personal and work life and have the time and energy to also take care of you so you can be there fully for yourself and your loved ones.

  • Acknowledge and grieve the loss for your old self and embrace your new self in this new realm of motherhood.

  • Reconnect to your true self and allow yourself to receive compassion and love from within.

  • Cultivate deep connection.. to yourself, your body, emotions, intuition, the present moment, to your loved ones and community. Release the feeling that you are all alone and unsupported as you connect to the part of yourself that has always been there for you.


From feeling like a failure to THRIVING as a mumma and business owner

The overwhelm was so intense postpartum, I felt like I just didn’t have what it takes to continue on. But being a mumma, I tapped into strength I never knew I had and now I am absolutely LOVING being a mother to my little Theo and navigating both motherhood and business owner, it comes with it’s challenges but I know that I have everything I need inside of me.

I have healed layers and layers of trauma, emotional wounds and heartache, birth trauma, feelings and beliefs of unworthiness, that I’m not good enough, I have ended the cycles of anxiety and depression that once plagued my life and am now living a fulfilling, abundant and joyful life with my little Theo.

Through healing my deepest wounds and traumas I have opened the space to step into my full potential, personal power and THRIVE in all areas of my life!
