Inviting playfulness and the medicine of laughter into the healing journey
Did you know the healing journey can actually be enjoyable, that it doesn’t haven’t to be painful and focusing on trauma after trauma, limitation after limitation, getting rid of the next thing that “is not serving you”
Integrating the past is part of the healing journey, yes. Healing traumas and transforming belief systems is part of the healing journey, yes.
But is it all of it???
So often there is this idea that you have to heal ALL the wounds, release ALL the limiting beliefs, do ALL this work before you can get to where you desire to be, have what you desire to have, feel the way you desire to feel…
But what if that’s not actually the case?
I remember earlier on in my journey reading about people healing from dis-ease that was considered “terminal” or “incurable”
(Note: Incurable really means Curable From Within ;)
And there were real life stories about people healing cancer with laughter!!!
I was truly shocked, amazed and INSPIRED!!!
We can heal by laughing? Whaaaaat???!
It’s true.
Laughter is medicine.
This isn’t about just being happy all the time, doing your affirmations and meditating trying to convince yourself that you are happy when you are not.
That doesn’t work.
This is known as bypassing.
In my work I am all about the shadows and the light, I am here for all of it and I support my clients and students to embrace all of it too
And you know what… They tell me again and again with amazement “Oh! When I embrace it, it moves, it releases”
Last night I was on a call with a client and I invited her to take some deep breaths to support her to arrive in the space after a busy day
She said to me “I can’t relax, my body is still tense from the drive home”
I replied “What if you don’t relax, try embracing the tension, intentionally tense every muscle of your body and welcome the tension, let the tension know it’s welcome here”
You know what happened…
She started laughing and told me as soon as she intentionally tensed her body and welcomed the tension, it immediately dissipated.
😳🤯😍
We’re often too busy running from our experience, avoiding, bypassing, distracting we don’t realise that what is here now is the portal.
The portal to your centre, to your liberation, to your joy, to your healing.
Rather than trying to work your way through a MASSIVE list of things you think you need to heal, can you invite yourself to be in the present, with what is present and allow it to be here…
What if meditation wasn’t about forcing peacefulness, stillness or silencing the mind
And what if it was actually about meeting what is here in the present ready to be met
Not searching for the thing that needs to be healed or released or what’s blocking you
Not searching for anything
Just BEING here in the now with whatever is here, even if that is a racing mind, tension, irritability, pissed off ness, or unexplainable joy.
Can you invite yourself to enjoy the moment, whatever is here?
Can you invite more playfulness and laughter into your process?
Can you take a deep breath as you read this and notice what is present right here right now as you read this… What is this bringing up for you?
I invite you to contemplate how you could bring more presence, playfulness and laughter into your journey.
Inside The Embodied Woman Experience we will be doing the same ;)
